LEADER IN
ME SCHOOL RECOGNITION: St.
Dominic School has been recognized by the Franklin Covey organization as a
Leader in Me School for our implementation of The 7 Habits of
Highly Effective People into our curriculum and for providing opportunities
for our students to develop their full leadership potential. On Monday, Christie Dickens from the Adams
County Academic Initiative presented us with a Leader in Me School banner
during our morning assembly. We are very excited and honored to receive
this recognition, and will continue to build our program in order to equip our
students with the self-confidence and skills they need for the 21st
century.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK has been a fun and very busy week. We hope the students have enjoyed the many activities planned by the teachers and staff. Thanks to the PTO for funding our Zumba and bowling activities, and to the cafeteria staff for serving lunch time favorites and special treats during the week. We especially thank you for sending your children to St. Dominic School.

SIX FLAGS
READING LOGS REMINDER: The Six Flags reading logs
for grades K-6 are due back into the office by Friday, February 24. This program gives students a great incentive
to read 6 hours and receive a free admission ticket into Six Flags. If you have
finished your reading, please turn the reading logs in as soon as
possible. Once the forms have been
submitted on line, we cannot add to our ticket numbers
DENTAL EXAM FORMS REMINDER: All students in
kindergarten, second grade and sixth grade are required by the State of
Illinois to have a dental exam. These
forms are due to the school office by May 15, 2012. If you have not scheduled your appointment,
please do so soon. Forms may be turned
into the school office at any time after the students have had the exam.
STUDENT
MENTORS NEEDED: We are still looking for
adults who would be willing to spend some time during the school day interacting
one-on-one with our students who could benefit from the extra attention and support. He or she would be asked to meet regularly
with the student at school (ex: an hour
every week or every other week) in order to build a positive relationship and
provide consistent support and guidance. Training will be provided and each mentor
will need to attend a Protecting God’s
Children session if he or she has not already done so. If you or someone
you know has the time and energy to spend mentoring a student, please call the
school office. Training is scheduled for
Thursday, February 23rd from
1:00-2:00 P.M. at St. Dominic.
