Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA)

Students in grades 7 and 8 may participate in the Quincy Catholic Schools Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) sports program, which consists of baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, and cross country. These sports are conducted after hours and are coached by volunteers.  Students try out for the teams, which are made up of players from all four Quincy Catholic Schools. Players are assessed a fee for each sport they play. Students must have a current physical exam* on file at the school and proper medical insurance coverage. Weekly grades, conduct, effort, and health are all considerations as to whether a student may participate. 

*Sports physicals are often offered for students free of charge in the spring or summer months6th grade students are covered by their required sixth grade school physical exam.

IESA Sports and Activities


Catholic Youth Organization (CYO)

Boys and girls may participate in the CYO Athletic Program, which consists of volleyball (grades 3-8) and basketball (grades 1-8). A kickball league and a sand volleyball league have been recently added. (More information to come on those!) These sports are conducted after school hours and are coached by volunteers. Information regarding the programs is emailed to school families. Students who wish to participate in the programs register through the CYO office and pay an assessed fee for each sport they play.  Students should have a current physical exam on file and proper medical insurance coverage.

CYO of Quincy

Running Club

Students in grades 4-8 may participate in the QCES Running Club, which takes place in the spring of each year, to prepare for the Bridge the Gap race in May. Students in grades K-3 may also participate, but must have a participating parent/adult present with them at all times. Participants meet on site after school for training on scheduled days.
